The writing has [a:David Sedaris|2849|David Sedaris|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1213737698p2/2849.jpg] written all over it. The writing it tight, insightful, and true to life. At the same time, the majority of the stories do not end well. Granted, these are stories about talking animals who act like animals, not Disney animals, so there is no way the story can be true to life without some bleakness at the end. At the same time, most of the stories are dark. They are kind of like watching a car accident on the side of the road: gruesome but you can't help yourself and you must look.
