Sunday Update - 4/20

Sunday Update

Welcome to my edition of the Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Sunday Post meme and Tynga's Reviews' Stacking the Shelves meme. Check out what I have been doing this week (and will do next week) and my book haul.

It has been another crazy week! My husband and I did our taxes and celebrated Tax Day by seeing Mary Roach in person. Our library system picks a book every year for the county to read. This year, Packing for Mars was chosen. Mary Roach talked about this book and writing in general. She was super lovely. She talks just like how she writes: funny and down-to-earth. I would definitely recommend seeing her in person, if you get the chance. She is currently on a book tour promoting the paperback version of Gulp.

I have also got out of the reading slump I've been having. I decided to reread the Chronicles of the Enchanted Forest by Patricia C Wrede. This series always makes me happy. Because I haven't been in a big reading mood, I decided to listen to the audio books. I allowed myself to zone out, if I didn't want to listen to the book. Because I've reread these books so many times, I wasn't worried about missing the plot. Interestingly, I got sucked into the story, and I didn't zone out at all. After reading the first two books in the series, I was sucked back into the world of reading. I think I just got bogged down in so many long, epic fantasies that reading just seemed hard. Nothing reboots my love of reading like Wrede.

I picked up two books this week. My husband got me a signed copy of Gulp by Mary Roach at her book talk last week. I also got an audio book copy of Marine Biology by Gail Carriger. This is part of the kickstarter she did a few months ago.
