Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week bloggers post a top ten list related to a specific theme. This week's theme is Top Ten Books On My Summer TBR List. Oops, I feel like I did this TTT two weeks ago, so I am going to list ten types of books that are perfect for the summertime. All links lead to GoodReads.
1. Reread a favorite series
I found that whether I was in school or working full-time, the summer months were always more relaxed. The summer is the perfect time to rediscover a beloved series like Harry Potter by JK Rowling.
2. Read a contemporary
I don't know why this is, but even the BookTubers agree with me, the summer is the time to read contemporary novels. I would like to recommend Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.
3. Read an epic fantasy series
3. Read an epic fantasy series
If contemporary novels aren't your thing, I would recommend reading a fantasy novel with a unique and crazy universe. If you can't travel the world, travel to a completely different world. I would recommend The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson.
4. Read an explosive SF novel
Not impressed with any of the summer blockbusters in the theater? Try an action-packed novel instead. I recommend Leviathan Wakes by James SA Corey.
5. Read a nonfiction book
I know, I know. Reading a nonfiction book sounds like work. There are some rather dry nonfiction books; however, there are tons of really interesting ones out there. If you are interested in quirky science books, I would recommend Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach.
6. Read a graphic novel
Sad that all of your shows have ended for the year? Pick up a graphic novel. They are like television shows on paper. There are graphic novels for every person out there. I recommend Saga by Brian Vaughan and Fiona Stapes. There are three volumes (trade paperbacks) available now, and I am pretty sure your library has them.
7. Read a thriller/mystery
My favorite outdoorsy reads are thrillers. I enjoy reading scary books while people are laughing and having fun around me. I recommend most things by Stephen King.
8. Read a romance
My other favorite outdoorsy read is a steamy romance. I love reading sexy time scenes out in public. I am a sucker for a regency romances and am a fan of Amanda Quick.
9. Read a travel book
Can't afford a plane ticket? Take a trip to the locale of your choice with a book (preferably with pictures). I like to go to the library and check out every book about a location that I want to visit.
10. Read whatever you want
You know what you like, you should read it.
