It is time for Thoughtful Thursday and the bookish questions that pop up while I am reading. Please share your thoughts on the bookish question of the week. I am curious to hear what you have to say! There are no wrong answers. Questions about Thoughtful Thursday or future Thoughtful Thursday posts? Check out my Thoughtful Thursday section. Alright, on to the question!
Have you ever continued to read a series, because you really liked the secondary characters but you didn't like the protagonist very much?
I must admit that this is one of the questions that sounded really awesome when I wrote it, but I have no idea how to answer it! LOL. This is a super hard question. Let's see what series come to mind.
A Song of Ice and Fire by GRR Martin: I have really mixed feelings about this series. Sometimes I enjoy it, and sometimes I just want to watch the television show and stop reading the books. In the end, however, I really like some of the characters that have been sidelined to the "B characters" like Sansa and Arya. These two ladies don't seem to get very many POV chapters anymore, even though I think they are the most awesome characters. I read the books for them.
Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris: Okay, I am cheating here, because I do like Sookie. However, even if I stopped liking Sookie, I would keep reading this series (only 3 books left!), because I love the secondary characters. Bubba, Sam, Tara, Pam, and the rest of the gang are so much fun. I need to know what happens to them. (No Spoilers!)
Harry Potter series: I love the Harry Potter series; however, I never really liked Harry. He and Luke Skywalker could have a great whine-fest about who is sadder that he needs to save the world. I do love Hermione, the entire Weasley family, Tonks, and the other characters. I think I would have been okay, if Harry died (blasphemy, I know).
Daughter of Smoke & Bone Trilogy by Laini Taylor: Karou is cool, but I find Akiva to be ridiculous. I love Zu and Mik though. I would read ten Akiva chapters just to have one Zu and Mik scene. I haven't read the third book yet, so please, no spoilers!
