Sunday Update!

This has been a fairly quiet week, but the last few days have been crazy. Yesterday was my husband and my first wedding anniversary. :) We got dressed up and went to a nice restaurant (so yummy) and saw Thor 2 (not as good as the first one). I got him a Dungeons & Dragons book set that he really wanted, and he got me the most awesome drawing ever. It is a dragon knitting with our kitty Lunabelle. I talked about really regretting not buying a painting of a dragon knitting at Dragon*Con on a Sunday Update recently. My lovely husband decided to rectify this. :) Yep, he's a keeper.

If you like the drawing, the artist's store is Make Me A Dragon.

Due to the wedding anniversary, I am a bit behind on everything (we are not going to talk about NaNoWriMo right now). Comments to your blogs  and replies to comments on my blog will be coming soon!

Weekly Book Haul

On Wednesday, I had a very special Wednesday Update to discuss some of the awesome books I had received. Please check out the post, because, it will Blow Your Mind! :) I also received A Touch of Temptation by Tara Pammi and A Kick-Ass Fairy by Linda Zercoe from GoodReads Giveaways. In regards to galleys, I got The X-Files: Season 10 #1 by Joe Harris and Jim Butcher's Dresden Files: Ghoul Goblin by Jim Butcher and others. Finally, I got Curtsies & Conspiracies by Gail Carriger from the library!

Updates
Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie: This book is a lot tougher to read than I thought it would be. The protagonist is an AI that used to be a spaceship carrier. Now, the AI is in a humanoid body. Also, the AI's native tongue doesn't use genders, so the AI uses "she" for everyone, unless the AI is forced to speak in a different language then some characters become "he's." The story is interesting, but I am finding myself zoning out more than I usually do. Because this is both a galley and a book for my book club, I want to finish it.

A Feast for Crows by GRR Martin: I decided to start up this audio book, because the library wait list had finally cooled down. I am enjoying it so far. I am excited to discover that it is shorter than A Storm of Swords! I only need to listen to it for about 1.5 hrs per day to finish it within three weeks!

Read This Week
Doomsday Book by Connie Willis
White Christmas by Emma Lee-Potter
Christmas without Holly by Nicola Yeager

Clean Out Your E-Reader Challenge
This challenge is still going a bit slow, but I think once next week starts, I am going to be on a roll. :)

Ho Ho Ho Read-A-Thon
I have read two books for this challenge, and I have one more to go! I also need to start visiting other blogs and doing the challenges! It is going to be a busy night!

Congratulations on your anniversary!! And you're husband sure is a keeper - that's a great gift & proves he pays attention, which makes it even better! Good luck catching up - I'm almost there, and I know how overwhelming being behind can be. Don't worry, there's still plenty of time for COYER progress :-)

Congrats on the anniversary, sounds like some great gifts! Jealous that you saw Thor, I wanted to see that this weekend but didn't happen. :) Hope you enjoy Feast for Crows, I liked it though it wasn't my favorite of the series. Still good stuff though.

Thank you! With HoHoHoRAT finishing up and no more RATs in sight, I have high hopes for #COYER (especially since I have reviews due soon for ARCs)! :)

Thank you! I have heard that AFfC and ADwD aren't very strong, so I am going in with low expectations. :)

Thank you! There is a shirtless scene of Thor in the movie purely to show off Thor. I started giggling in the movie. ;)

Happy Anniversary! That is so exciting <3 yes your hubby is definitely a keeper :) We are going to watch Thor 2 on Wednesday.. I loved Loki in Avengers though! It's ok to have a quiet week sometimes, it gives you a bit of relaxing time and breathing space.

Happy Anniversary! That painting is adorable. Best wishes to you and your husband for many more happy years together!

I've been reading Martin in hardbacks. A Feast for Crows is about half the thickness of A Storm of Swords. My arms won't get nearly the same workout while reading it. ;)

Loki was his loveable self in this movie. The movie was fun; I just didn't like it as much as the first.

This is why I love e-books! :) My kindle is so much easier to hold. In all seriousness, I was really happy to discover how "short" AFFC was. I get the audio books for this series through my library, and I have to make sure that I keep to a listening schedule, so I can finish the book within 3 weeks. SOS was a tight fit!

Needle felt crafts are so cute! I am going to get a book from the library about how to make them soon. :)

I need to grab Curtsies & Conspiracies! I loved the first book. I normally have new releases that I really want to read but can't purchase on hold at the library, but I have so many books already checked out from them and others to read that I'm taking a break until I get caught up. I hope you enjoy it!

I completely understand! I am returning a stack of unread books to the library (!), because I just can't keep up and I feel bad keeping them. Good luck on getting caught up! I know I feel like there is always way more to read. :)

Congrats on your anniversary - your hubby sounds awesome to get you such a prezzie. One of my favourite books of all time is Connie Willis' To Say Nothing of the Dog which still has me laughing after about twenty reads. For some reason I never got around to reading Doomsday but I'll have to make the time to rectify that.

Thank you! I am looking forward to reading To Say Nothing of the Dog. I am glad to hear that it made you laugh. I would like to read something a bit happier than Doomsday Book!
