Wednesday Update

It has been an exciting week. I received the Steve Jobs biography in the mail yesterday. I won it through the GoodReads First Reads giveaway program. I have been wanting to read this, so I am excited that I won this. I love getting books in the mail! :) I thought it was clever that for the softcover, the publisher chose to use a young picture of Steve Jobs. It mixes it up.

Updates

I started two books this week: The Smartest Kids in the World: And How They Got This Way by Amanda Ripley and Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris.

I have just started The Smartest Kids in the World, but I am definitely finding it interesting. I read a review by Allison at The Book Wheel a little while ago, and the book sounded like something I would like to read. I am enjoying the writing style, so far it reminds me of Mary Roach (without the humor). Ripley gets bonus points for having resources listed in the back of the book. No references in nonfiction books is a pet peeve of mine.

I also started listening to Dead to the World, and I am loving it. The Sookie Stackhouse books are a guilty pleasure of mine. The reader, Johanna Parker, makes the characters come alive. I also really like the character of Sookie. She's got spunk. Sure, she is a bit silly, but so are all the other characters. I am concerned that the book quality is going to go down hill the farther I get into the series, so I am going to start stretching out the time between books to so I don't get to the bad books as quickly. That is totally logical, right? :)

I still need to finish Battle Magic by Tamora Pierce. I think I am just going to buckle down tomorrow and finish it. I am going to finish it soon, I promise!

Fun! Entertainment! Randomness!

This video just cracks me up. I think I have watched it at least ten times.

Edited to add The Book Wheel link.

I think Steve Jobs's bio would be good. Movie looked interesting - have you seen it?

Steve Jobs biography? Oh man...I hate biographies LOL. I've read two fictional biographies that I could think of...even those I didn't really enjoy. I would have to be REALLY fascinated with that person to enjoy one I think. It's like reading a history book!

I have not seen it. I am okay with reading about how Steve Jobs was not a nice guy; however, I don't want to see it. I know that sounds weird, but I just imagine myself cringing throughout the movie.

I wrote a report on Steve Jobs back when I was in high school (back in the day before iPods). He was an interesting character even then. He is a visionary but isn't the most altruistic guy out there. I am hoping that will keep me interested in the book.

Thanks for the tip! With Feedly, I can't search all of my RSS feeds like I could on Google Reader. I am going to have to start taking notes more often.
