In other news, my mother-in-law got my kitty a Cat's Meow. It is this battery-operated device that mimics a tiny objects moving underneath a piece of nylon. Lunabelle, my kitty, loves it so much. I made two videos and put them up on YouTube to show my mother-in-law. Here are links Lunabelle playing with the Cat's Meow and another video of her playing with the Cat's Meow. If you were considering getting one, check them out. When my husband or I put it away, she cries for it. We call it her Kitty X-Box.
Book Haul
From Giveaways
I receive from V Is for Virgin by Kelly Oram from the Dreamy December Read-a-Thon. I also won the Harlequin Teen Another Little Piece of My Heart Giveaway, which was hosted by Lauren from Lose Time Reading. In addition to some swag, I got The Juliet Spell by Douglas Rees, My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent, and Inside Out by Marie V Synder. I also received some swag and a copy of Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman from Jennifer from the The Bawdy Book Blog as a prize from the Ho Ho Ho Read-a-thon.
Purchased
I got it in my head that I needed the American version of the Harry Potter books in physical form (I have the e-books). I didn't want to pay full price for them again (I used to own but gave them away after getting the e-books and the hardback British editions). I popped over to the local Goodwill and picked up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. They are categorized as "children's paperbacks", so I got them for $0.69 each. I am hoping to find the rest of the series over time. My husband said that I should try to collect all of the different versions of the books. It is going to be a fun little challenge! I also picked up Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. Because this was an adult paperback, I spent a whole $0.99.
Currently Reading
A Study in Ashes by Emma Jane Holloway: I am really enjoying this steampunk, magic tale of Sherlock's spunky niece.
A Dance with Dragons by GRR Martin: This is going to be a slow read for me, because I don't have a lot of time to listen to an audio book. I will probably be listening to this book when the next book comes out! :)
Read This Week
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Those videos are hilarious! We might have to get one of those... Fortunately the Milk sounds like a fun little book too.
Have a great Christmas!
The holidays have been taking my attention away from blogging and responding to comments, too. No worries; I expect a lot of us are in the same boat! Love your kitty cat; she's very pretty. Enjoy all your new books - I love thrift store and library sale bargains!
Holiday season is always so busy! That's a pretty good deal for the Harry Potter books haha. Happy holiday, thanks for sharing & stopping by Bookmunchies (:
I am so going to listen to Fortunately the Milk on audio - I heard the man himself narrates. I listened to him do a reading at the signing I went to for Ocean at the End of the Lane. So good hearing him read it.
I want to collect the different versions of Harry Potter too! I wrote down all the different copies and there are so many! Your kitty is super cute! I should get my cat one, she might need a little catnip to coax her into being playful but it seems like something she would enjoy. Or my two dogs would atleast. :P I hope you enjoy your holidays and your new reads!
The toy is everything that my cat loves: (1) nylon, (2) string-like thing, and (3) something moving under a thin material. After a few days of heavy use though, it is starting to get a bit roughed up. :(
Fortunately, the Milk is such a lovely book for little-ish ones and those who are young at heart. :)
The Goodwill near my old house didn't have a large book collection. The one near where I live now is amazing. There are so many books! In particular, there are tons of copies of the Twilight Saga and books on pregnancy.
I was so excited to find the two Harry Potter books! I was so antsy to pick up copies, and I don't mind spending less than $1 for each. Cheaper than a candy bar. :)
Neil Gaiman does an amazing job with his readings. A few years ago, my husband had the chance to see him when he was on his The Graveyard Book tour. He read from The Graveyard Book, and it was amazing apparently. :)
You are on the ball with getting the different HP editions! Are you doing the different languages too? Good luck with your collecting!
I should mention that today the toy is starting to get a little worn out with her constant playing with it. Lunabelle really likes to play though, so she might be particularly rough with it.
Wowwee.. You definitely got some awesome wins this week *Happiness* I also collected the HP books as second hands as I went a long. Some of them were labelled 2ndhand but were brand new and never been read - Score!
Chanzie @ Mean Who You Are.
I love getting brand new books second hand! :)
