Sunday Update!

I have so many stories to tell this week! First, check out my Alexandra Bracken story on my Dreamy December Days Day 5 Challenge & Update post. I still smile when I think about it. Second, check out my interview with the lovely Chené on Mean Who You Are. Have you been to her book blog? You should visit her book blog. Your cursor will emit sparkles. Third, I got a mysterious package! Read the For Review section for more exciting details!

As an aside, I am so sorry that I haven't been commenting on your comments for the last few days! Social engagements have kept me busy. Please know that your comments are important to me, and I shall be reading and commenting on them today and tomorrow. Get ready for some love! :)

Book Haul

For Review

I received Dark Talisman by Steven M Booth and The Creature Department by Robert Paul Weston to review from Wunderkind PR. The folks at Wunderkind PR were so lovely. First, they sent me an ARC of The Creature Department when they couldn't find a final copy. Later, they found a final copy and sent me that too. :)

I also received a CD (audio book) of Knight of Pleasure by Margaret Mallory from the GoodReads First Reads program. I have a hilarious story to go with this audio book. A few days ago, the UPS man came by the house and dropped off two packages. One package was a new Wii U sensor bar, because naughty Lunabelle bit through the wire connecting it to the Wii U. The second package was a small brown box. When I saw the box, I figured it was some swag that I won from a giveaway. I tore open the box and came face-to-face with some brown paper, which was being used as padding. I was surprised by this, because I couldn't see anything else in the box. Where was all the swag? I removed the brown paper and saw a DVD case with two people kissing and the title Knight of Pleasure written across the top (see book cover above). I picked up the DVD and flipped it over. The first thing that caught my eye was the following sentence: Contains mature themes. The first thing that popped into my head was who on earth had sent me p0rn? Suddenly, everything clicked into place. I realized that this was the romance novel that I had won from GoodReads. Apparently, I had won an audio book version of the book. All was right in the world.

From the library

I got two books from the library. I got Three Parts Dead by Max Gladstone because Tabitha from My Shelf Confessions enjoyed it. I also picked up Boxers by Gene Luen Yang.

Currently Reading

Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie: This book is on the back burner. Yep, that is my story, and I am sticking to it.

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell: This book is so adorable. I love it. I am attached to all of the characters, and I can't wait to see how it all works out. This is a nice respite from all of the dystopian and post-apocalypse books that I have been reading lately.

Read This Week

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight Volumes 5, 6, 7, 8 by Joss Whedon & Others
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Dreamy December Days

I finished up the Dreamy December Days read-a-thon yesterday. It was lots of fun. I didn't get as much reading done as I wanted, but I enjoyed doing the challenges and reading with others.

Holiday #Readathon

This read-a-thon ends today, and I have not done very well. The social engagements piled up this weekend, so reading time was not as plentiful as I had hoped. I did a lot of the challenges, and I am planning on going to the Twitter party and visiting some blogs later today.

Fierce Reads Giveaway

I won swag from the Fierce Reads Giveaway from Brittany on The Book Addict's Guide. Isn't it all lovely? Lunabelle loved the bracelet. She kept snatching it up and running off with it.

I should read Attachments since I enjoyed Fangirl. I just really liked her writing in that book. Also, the Creature Department certainly sounds interesting as well.

What a nice haul! I haven't read (or heard) of any of those books, but I hope you enjoy them very much :)

Attachments has been getting a lot of great reveiws. I wasn't completely on the Rainbow Rowell bandwagon, but I recently read Fangirl and adored it so Attachments is the next one I will be reading for her.

I totally agree that a nice contemporary gives a break from dystopian. I feel like i have to switch it up everytime I read one lately too... there are just so many dystopians now!!

I hope you enjoy all your books :) Thanks so much for stopping by my post!!

Your porn story is too funny. I read an anthology called Turn Up the Heat, and the last book was so hot that while I was reading it I must have been blushing, because my husband turned to me and said, "what are you reading" and I replied, "Porn" he said, "really?" LOL

Don't worry about taking a few days off from replying to comments now and then! All of us have real lives, too; we can't be bloggers every minute or even every day.

Enjoy your new books, and have a great week!

Wow what an exciting week! Your audio book story had me giggling. Thank you for the mention Pamela :) Thanks for being a part of my blog this week too. The Shadow & Bone swag looks awesome. I really need to make a plan and read that series sometime.

I love Gene's graphic novels but I haven't had a chance to read Boxers yet. It looks really good. I did okay in Dreamy Days as well, though I know I could have done much better if I had actually tried. I hope you have a great week and happy reading!

Love the cover on The Creature Department.
I've become a little interested in the Boxer Rebellion after reading Jim Steinmeyer's The Glorious Deception. Love a good historical graphic novel.

I haven't read Eleanor & Park or Fangirl; however, I can that Attachments is pretty adorable. I couldn't stop smiling while reading it. I may have really loved it, because I was burnt out on dystopians though. :)

If you liked Fangirl, you should try Attachments. I had rolled my eyes at all of the Rainbow love, but I am enchanted by her first book. :)

That is hilarious. There is a part II to my story that I think you will like. After I got the package, I left to go to my knitting group. I left the audio book next to the Wii U sensor bar package. When I got home, my husband asked me why I got porn in the mail. :)

I know nothing about the Boxer Rebellion, so I thought this would be a good place to start. I have heard that it is good, so we shall see! :)
