Sunday Update!

This is the first Sunday of the new year! I cannot believe it is 2014, I have big hopes for this year. I have a lot of goals and resolutions for the blog. I want to change a few things. Nothing too big. The biggest change might be the way I do my Sunday update. Because I am scheduling my posts more in advance, I will be able to give you a heads up on what is coming out each week. I might also move the book haul to a separate post as well. Breaking up the Sunday posts into two would give me the opportunity to just do two reviews a week, which seems a bit more manageable. Top Ten Tuesdays and Thoughtful Thursdays will remain unchanged.

Book Haul
From Giveaways

I received three books this week from two different giveaways. First, I received Memory's Wake from the Clean Out Your E-Reader Challenge (hosted by Fantasy Is More Fun and Because Reading Is Better than Real Life). This was a really fun challenge, and there is another one coming up in a few months! Second, I received Taste by Kate Evangelista and a signed copy of This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E Smith from the Dreamy December Days Read-a-Thon (hosted by Books Keep Me Sane and Always Lost in Books.

Currently Reading

A Study in Ashes by Emma Jane Holloway: I am still enjoying this book; I just had to prioritize another book over it recently.

A Dance with Dragons by GRR Martin: I am having trouble fitting in audio time. I am considering switching to the physical book.

The Einstein Intersection by Samuel R Delany: This is the January read for the Sword & Laser book club. It is poetic and makes interesting statements about being different. I am about one-third of the way through the book (it is super short) and am looking forward to seeing how the story plays out.

Read This Week

The Creature Department by Robert Paul Weston

Giveaway

I want to thank Book Loving Hippo for an Amazon gift certificate. I won the #ReadingCram Song Challenge.

Oh wow you are listening to Dance with Dragons? Just how long is that in audio anyway? I am a fast reader and it took forever, listening to it at another s pace may just kill me.

Nice haul, and I so need to read the Study in Ash series. Enjoy your week!

Congrats on the wins! I need to get back to Study in Silks, which I set aside and neglected to pick back up. I'm not sure why, because I was definitely enjoying it... just got sidetracked by some scheduled tours, I guess.

Congratulations on the wins! I read This is What Happy Looks Like back in the spring, and it's adorable! Such a fun, cute, feel good type of book :) Good Luck with Dance of the Dragons! Seriously, I commend anyone that can read that series. While I want to try it out really badly, it's just sooo soo daunting!! Happy New year Pamela!! All the best in the coming year <3

Fabulous books to win! I really enjoyed This Is What Happy Is Like! It's not necessarily realistic, but I loved it anyway. ;)

Good luck with your goals for the year! I should try to schedule ahead more, I just kinda wing it so I don't always know what is coming up, maybe this year I'll get more organized. :) Have a great reading week!

ADWD! I loved that book sooooo much! But yeah I think it's best reading a physical book when it comes to Martin. So much happens and all you have to reread a few things more than once. Plus maps up front and names at the back. ;)
Happy reading!

Did you like The Creature Department? I got it at our bookfair in October but haven't read it yet. But I love that it glows in the dark :D

A Dance with Dragons huh? I myself.. refuse to read anymore George RR Martin till that series is finished. I doubt that guy soo much. I mean... I read an article once where he just didn't care if he finished the series or not. He has "things to do". ERRRR

Looks like you got a lot of good books. I haven't started the Games series yet but plan to this year.

Trust me. It is definitely a challenge to schedule the posts out early. At the same time, it is lowering my stress and giving me more time to read! :)

Taste sounds really cool. I am excited to give it a go. I made it a priority to start listening to A Dance with Dragons again, and it started with a crazy event. Apparently, I had stopped listening right before something exciting happened. I am definitely getting more inspired to listen to it.

Yea! We are practically the same person at this point! :) I read the first few pages, and it looks adorable. I love books with letters/emails. :)

I just scheduled this week out, and I feel less stressed already. :) I want to ultimately get at least a month ahead. I will still need to do a weekly update the same day, but the blogging will be much more manageable.

The audio book is 48 hours. I have listened to all of the SOIAF books on audio, and I really do enjoy it. The reader is excellent. Also, the books just look so big. 48 hours seems much more manageable for some reason.

It is definitely interesting. Just start at book one, not book three like me. *sigh* I need to do a better job of researching books and determining if they are the final book in a series. :)

The same thing is happening with me with A Study in Ashes. I am really enjoying it, but others things are just getting in the way.

I read the first few pages, and it sounds totally adorable. I think it will be the perfect read after I finish A Dance with Dragons. I am usually desperate for something happy after I finish a book in the Song of Ice and Fire series. :)

I don't think I could read the physical books, but the audio books for Song of Ice and Fire are quite good.

This seems to be the consensus with this book. I am excited to read it when I need something adorable and happy.

I think you are the first person I have heard who loved ADWD! I am glad to hear that you do like it. I have listened to the audio books for the first four books, and I really enjoy them. My life has changed a bit since I listened to the previous books and audio books just don't fit into my life as conveniently as before. :(

It is pretty cute. My review goes up in a few minutes. It is definitely a middle grade book, but it is a fun middle grade book. :)

The reason that I decided to push through and finish the books was because I watch the TV show. I wanted to be ahead of the show. After I finished SoS, I realized that the show may possibly get into AFFC and ADWD territory in the next season. The show people said they wouldn't, but I doubt that.

Also, the show people said that they are going to keep going whether the books come out or not. Martin might not finish the series but HBO will. :)

They are quite good. There is a good bit of violence against women in them though, so I have had to space them out a bit. I can't read them back to back.

I have my posts scheduled pretty far in advance, too, and it really helps keep the pressure off.
Congrats on winning in two different giveaways! That's so cool :)
I hope you had a good weekend, Pamela !

I hope you enjoy Memory's Wake - it was one of my favorites of 2014 and I can't wait to read the next one (which I have waiting for me on my eReader)!

I wish I could get really ahead on posts, but every time I try I lose a few days writing posts and then lose the momentum trying to catch up on life. It's a vicious circle and I think I'll never be more than a few days ahead :(

We will see how well I do with posting ahead of the game. I haven't had a lot of time to read, because I have been writing lots of posts. My hope is that once I am ahead enough, I can just write reviews when I finish books and spend one day a month doing discussion posts and memes. We will see, if that works.
